Sleepy Hollow Golf Club traces to 1921, when it opened as Pocatalico Golf Links on land leased from a gunpowder manufacturer, and was renamed Sleepy Hollow in 1927. The club closed during World War Two in 1942 and reopened in 1946, then moved in 1955 to its current 280-acre site in Teays Valley, the former Samuel Handley estate. A new clubhouse was built in 1989.
