Newport Country Club in Newport, Rhode Island opened its first nine holes in 1894, designed by Willie Davis, and was remodeled by A. W. Tillinghast in 1923. The club hosted the first U.S. Open and U.S. Amateur championships in 1895, and has since hosted the 1995 U.S. Amateur, the 2006 U.S. Women's Open and the 2024 U.S. Senior Open.
