Dornick Hills was Perry Maxwell's first golf course design, begun in 1914 on his own dairy farm and completed as a full 18 in 1923. The name comes from the Gaelic word for small rocks, which had to be cleared from the site before construction. The club was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2004, and Tom Doak led a restoration of Maxwell's original greens, bunkers and routing under a masterplan accepted in December 2020.
