Fenway Golf Club was founded in 1920 as Fenimore Golf Club on a 40-acre Scarsdale estate and was renamed Fenway in 1936 during a financial reorganization. Devereux Emmet designed the original course, and A.W. Tillinghast completely redesigned it before it reopened on July 4, 1924, with Gil Hanse later restoring the Tillinghast design in the late 1990s using the original plans and historical aerial photographs. The club hosted the 108-hole Westchester Open in 1938, with a field that included Ben Hogan, Sam Snead, Byron Nelson and Dick Metz.
