Crag Burn Golf Club sits on a former 190-acre summer estate built by Frank H. Goodyear Jr. and Dorothy Knox, which originally held a large English-style house along with stables, polo fields and bridle paths. As equestrian use declined, Dorothy Knox Goodyear's son Bobby and son-in-law Clint Wyckoff decided to turn the estate into a golf course in the late 1960s, bringing in Robert Trent Jones Sr to design it.
