Vardon Golf Club's front nine was designed by Tom Vardon, a club professional and course architect who finished runner-up to his brother Harry Vardon at the 1903 British Open, and it opened in 1929 as the original nine of what became Minot Country Club. The 2011 Souris River flood nearly destroyed the course, and four local members bought and rebuilt it, reopening it in 2013 under the Vardon name in his honor. It plays over rolling river-bottom terrain with small, well-bunkered greens.
