The South Course at Oakland Hills Country Club opened in 1918, a Donald Ross design nicknamed 'The Monster' after Ben Hogan's 1951 U.S. Open there. Gil Hanse led a full renovation from 2019 to 2021, and the club has hosted six U.S. Opens, three PGA Championships and the 2004 Ryder Cup.
