Olde Barnstable Fairgrounds occupies the former Barnstable County Fairgrounds, which gives the course its name. It opened in 1992 and was designed by Mark Mungeam. The course is certified as an Audubon Sanctuary, one of only three such courses on Cape Cod, and several holes overlook a neighboring grass airstrip.
