GreatHorse in Hampden, Massachusetts occupies the site of the former Hampden Country Club, which opened in 1973 and had grown outdated by the time the Antonacci family bought it in 2012. What began as a planned basic renovation became a three-year, 45 million dollar transformation, with the course redesigned by Brian Silva and the club relaunched in 2015. The name references Leonardo da Vinci's Gran Cavallo horse sculpture, reflecting the family's history in thoroughbred racing.
