Audubon Country Club was founded in 1908 by Russell Houston and G. Robinson Hunt, who first leased an adjoining farm for the course before the club purchased the land outright in 1927. It has hosted golfers including Bobby Jones, Bing Crosby, Walter Hagen and Babe Zaharias, and hall of famers Pee Wee Reese and Paul Hornung were lifetime members. The club regularly hosts the Kentucky Open, Kentucky State Amateur, Kentucky Senior Amateur and KGA Mid-Amateur championships, and local architect Spencer Holt has completed recent course modernizations.
