The club began in 1896 on leased pasture land at what is now Loose Park, with a course laid out by Tom Bendelow and later redesigned by A.W. Tillinghast. In 1925 the club moved a mile west to its current site on Brush Creek in Mission Hills, and a renovation by Andrew Green finished in 2026 with new irrigation and a swap in the order of the 10th and 18th holes. Tom Watson, once a member, holds the professional course record of 60.
