Woodstock, IL
Bull Valley Golf Club is a private 18-hole, par-72 golf course in Woodstock, Illinois, playing 7,325 yards with a course rating of 77.2 and slope of 151. It is ranked #31 on Golf Digest's Best in Illinois (2025-26).
🏛 Designed by Dick Nugent (1989)
Bull Valley's 500-acre property sits on land ceded by Chief Blackhawk to the US government in 1833, later settled by farmers beginning in 1841. The course incorporates native oaks and hickories, wetlands, prairie grassland and a rare perched fen across terrain of forested dells and glacially carved ravines. The 12th tee sits on a terminal moraine at 1,010 feet, said to be the highest point between the Great Lakes and the Mississippi River; its inaccessible sections were once used by dairy farmers to graze bulls, which gave the club its name.
