The Harvester was routed around Lake Crabtree on former farmland northeast of Des Moines and opened in 2000 as a daily fee public course. In spring 2018 the club closed for a major renovation led by architect Keith Foster, who remodeled it in a 1920s Golden Age style, and it reopened as a private club in summer 2019. Holes 8, 9, 17 and 18 all finish along Lake Crabtree, the course's centerpiece.
