Cypress Lake Country Club
Fort Myers, FL
Cypress Lake Country Club is a private 18-hole, par-72 golf course in Fort Myers, Florida, playing 7,032 yards with a course rating of 74.5 and slope of 141. It was designed by Dick Wilson and opened in 1959.
🏛 Designed by Dick Wilson (1959)
Cypress Lake was established in 1959 by local businessmen led by Harry Popham; the first nine holes opened for play on February 22, 1961, with 203 members, and the back nine followed in July 1962. Dick Wilson's original design set the greens on a 30 to 45 degree diagonal axis with bunkering meant to challenge aerial approach shots. Ron Garl completed a comprehensive renovation in 2001 that resolved longstanding drainage problems, and Ron Forse restored the course to Wilson's original design concepts in 2017.
