Connecticut Golf Club was established in 1966 by Lawrence Wien in collaboration with architect Geoffrey Cornish, who used the rugged topography of southwestern Connecticut to shape the layout. The course opens with a 575-yard par 5, its longest hole, and includes four par threes, three of which play over 200 yards to elevated, water-guarded greens. The par-4 16th hole is noted for a green with 68 yards of depth across four tiers, from front to back pins. A later renovation was designed by Brian Silva of Silva and Mungeam Architects.
