Cherry Hills Country Club, south of Denver, opened in 1922 to a William Flynn design at 5,300 feet elevation. Arnold Palmer drove the first green in the final round to win the 1960 U.S. Open here, and the club has also hosted U.S. Opens in 1938 and 1978 and PGA Championships in 1941 and 1985.
